Designing the “2.5%” Zakat Hoodie was one of those moments where I realized that sometimes the simplest ideas carry the strongest meaning. I wrestled with a lot of concepts at first trying to find the perfect way to represent Zakat in a way that felt modern, meaningful, and wearable.
One early idea was a pie chart, with a small 2.5% slice highlighted to visually show what portion of our wealth belongs to others. Another concept had the phrase “2.5% is not mine”, a reminder that giving isn’t charity, it’s an obligation and an honor in our faith. Both designs felt powerful, but something about them wasn’t clicking. They looked clever… but they felt busy.
The more I played with sketches and layouts, the more I kept coming back to a basic truth. Zakat is simple. Clear. Direct. No embellishment needed. And that’s when it hit me that all I needed on this hoodie was “2.5%.”
Just that. Nothing more.
Because those who know, know. And those who don’t will ask and that’s where the real beauty lies. The hoodie becomes a conversation starter. A gentle reminder. A small act of dawah wrapped in a clean, modern design.
The final product is minimal, but it carries weight. It’s a subtle nudge toward generosity, accountability, and spiritual discipline and I love that it invites reflection without shouting a message. A simple “2.5%” says everything it needs to say.
